Activity #4: Creating a comic strip (www.wittycomics.com)

Level: Pre-Intermediate
Grammar focus: giving and asking for directions
Vocabulary focus: prepositions of direction ('past'; 'along'; 'across'; etc.)
Recycled language: greetings; imperative forms
Brief description of the activity: students are asked to use this website in order to create a comic strip and practise the structures and vocabulary they have learned to give and ask for directions.

Once the students render their productions, the teacher can also ask them to act some out.
This activity is quite interesting since it might help students to fix useful vocabulary and structures in their minds.

A step-by-step guide to use this website:

1- Go to www.wittycomics.com. There, you will see three frames; each of them has
several scenes and characters to choose from. You can either make different options
for each frame or design the first one and then duplicate it

2- Below the scene options there is a 'narration' field, where you can write anything about
the setting, date; etc. There is also a field for the title.

3- You write your text in the corresponding field and it simultaneously appear on the
scene. There are four different types of bubbles. You need to have an account
(which is free) in order to save your production.
